Effects SDK updates — Q1 2026: a new rendering engine for the web

The headline of Q1 2026 is the new rendering engine in the Web Video SDK 3.7. It was rewritten without third-party dependencies: fewer render calls give higher FPS and lower CPU and GPU use, the SDK starts faster and the library is smaller. Desktop gained offline authorization, and Android a way to stop the camera pipeline.

Video Effects SDK for the web — 3.7.0, 3.7.1#

3.7.0

  • New rendering engine, written from scratch without third-party dependencies.
  • Higher FPS and lower CPU/GPU usage, faster initialization, smaller library.
  • Fixed Lower Third fonts and destroy() race conditions.

3.7.1

  • Loading a Blob as a background works again. setBackground() takes optional parameters for the content type, because it cannot always be detected; if it cannot, the Blob is treated as an image (docs).

3.7.0 · 3.7.1

Windows and macOS — 2.3.1#

Offline authorization — the SDK can be licensed without a web request, for air-gapped and restricted environments. Release notes

Android — 2.14.0#

  • stopPipeline() for CameraPipeline.
  • Performance improvements and a fix for onFrameAvailableListener() on some devices.
