Effects SDK updates — Q2 2025: chroma key, offline licensing, WebGPU in Electron

Q2 2025 brought offline licensing to mobile and new tools to the web. Android and iOS can now authorize without a network request, the Web SDK gained classic chroma key, runtime metrics and automatic fallback from WebGPU to WASM, and Electron apps got WebGPU consistency checks and native inference modules.

Video Effects SDK for the web — 3.5.3 to 3.5.6#

  • Automatic fallback to the CPU WASM provider if WebGPU fails at runtime, with more details in onError (3.5.3).
  • Dynamic effect loading into the pipeline (loadEffect) and a getMetrics() method: output FPS, segmentation inference time and full frame draw time (3.5.3).
  • Classic chroma key next to ML segmentation: enableChromaKey(), disableChromaKey(), setChromaKeySettings() (3.5.4).
  • Better reporting of network problems such as session authentication and model loading (3.5.5).
  • Electron (3.5.6): WebGPU inference can be inconsistent in Electron on some Intel GPUs, so with test_inference: true the SDK checks results against reference data and falls back to WASM if needed (Balanced preset). Native inference modules for Electron give better performance than WASM.
  • Fixes: fewer copies with Electron native modules, faster camera switching, correct background position after device rotation, correct output resolution on mobile Safari.

  • Frames can be passed with a 90°, 180° or 270° rotation, and images loaded from an in-memory buffer (2.5.0).
  • A custom license server URL and a Color Grading fix (2.5.1).
