Effects SDK updates — Q2 2026: avatars, video noise suppression, custom overlays
Q2 2026 added avatars, video noise suppression and custom overlays to the Web Video SDK. Color correction and low light were rebuilt, a new noise suppression effect removes camera grain, the Avatars effect replaces the face with an animated avatar, and the overlay system now supports your own lower thirds and captions. Studio Sound got lower latency and cleaner preset switching.
Video Effects SDK for the web#
3.8.0 — better picture
- Color correction, reworked: automatic scene analysis plus manual white balance, exposure, contrast and vibrance; smoother changes over time.
- Low light, reworked: brightens dark scenes more efficiently, without a separate worker and model.
- Noise suppression (video): removes sensor noise and grain and stops low-light shimmer between frames.
- Portrait lighting: cleaner separation around the person.
- WebGL context recovery after rendering failures, a Lower Thirds memory leak fix, cleaned-up API declarations.
3.9.0 — Avatars
A real-time Avatars effect tracks the face and replaces it with an animated avatar — for meetings, streaming, recording and online classes. Try the demo · integration guide
3.9.1: fixed I420 conversion and MIME detection for assets served with wrong headers; animated WebP backgrounds.
3.10.0 — stability and custom overlays
- Custom Lower Thirds and captions through the new Custom Overlay system; the built-in Lower Thirds were rebuilt on it (guide).
- Safer rendering: when WebGL is unavailable or a software renderer is detected, frames pass through instead of crashing, and

Audio Effects SDK for the web — 2.5.2#
- Adaptive jitter buffer that tunes itself in real time: lower latency without dropouts.
- Nearly inaudible speed-up when catching up on latency (WSOLA-style time-stretching).
- Faster AGC reaction to loud spikes, a fixed multi-band EQ path and artifact-free preset switching.
